Forty kilometres of Sardinia’s wildest coastline: cliffs falling vertically to the sea, cut by deep incisions
|
|
|
According to the guidebook “Guide to the nature of
Sardinia” by Fulco Pratesi and Guido Tassi, in reference
to Baunei’s coastline "perhaps there isn’t anywhere else
in Italy with a section of coast so extensive and
unknown: 40 kilometres of limestone bastions and cliffs,
barely interrupted here and there by a few sandy bays,
probably the finest section of coastline in Italy and in
absolute and without a shadow of doubt the harshest and
wildest..." The gulf from Santa Maria Navarrese to Cala
Luna, is in fact made of high limestone rocks which form
an overhanging coastline as far as the sea where
stupendous bays of white sand are formed. Cala Luna and
Cala Sisine are, in fact, where the gorges of the same
name reach the sea. |
